Editorial policy

Every guide starts from a primary source, states its jurisdiction and date, and stops where the source stops.

Sources

First choice is always the municipal code, the official city or state portal, the registration portal, or primary legislation such as Regulation (EU) 2024/1028 on EUR-Lex. Secondary explainers are used only to find a primary source, never as the authority for a rule.

Grading

Each guide carries an evidence level in its rule card: primary law or code, official portal guidance, or general explanation where the primary text is summarised. Where a figure is volatile, it is a dated snapshot, and a recheck moves the date forward.

Voice

Knowledgeable, not expert. Guides use regulatory terminology correctly, attribute claims, and never claim practitioner standing, never advise a specific host, and never present one city's rule as general.

Corrections

When a rule changes or an error is found, the affected guide is updated, its last-checked date moves, and the corrections page records what changed and why. Nothing is silently rewritten.
